Epilogue: How wikipedia has contributed to understanding globalization

All students in Globalization Class chose free topic which is relevant to globalization. And we did that assignment using 'Wikipedia'. I used it many times when I wanted to get some information about certain subjects but it was my first time to write in wikipedia directly. It helped me understand globalization in some ways.
First of all, anyone is free to access to wikipedia. If it is not free, only people who can pay money would have been able to use it. And anyone can participate in producing information so anyone can be beneficiary as well as producer of information. In this aspect, wikipedia contributes to reducing inequality between people who have more information and who don't.
Wikipedia works as representative example of "Collective Intelligence". Numerous members of wikipedia cooperate with other members and sometimes compete and express better opinion, and through this process they can create synergy overwhelming sum of intelligence of individuals.
People from all over the world can add text and edit them. They can create good quality text as a native people's point of view. People who know well about their country, their specialization(area, major) make numerous pages which contain information that is useful to many people. Quality of text can be controversial sometimes because they are not clearly verified experts. But despite of weak point, they can contribute to wikipedia and equal spread of information and only this point can be meaningful.
