What is "Globalization"?

1) summarize in your own words of materials you read
I can summarize “Globalization” with two single words. The first word is homogeneity. All we eat McDonald, wear Nike, drink Coca-Cola, and use Facebook. 6billion people’s behavior has been become similar by some brand. For that reason some big companies can sell their product without making a new product for foreign customers. The second word is division of labor. The above mentioned companies are all American companies. But their factories are not in America. Only head office is in America. In this situation, companies get benefit through hiring cheap worker. And people who live in third world can get a job. Besides above benefit, there are many other advantages from “Globalization”.But, it also has bad things. Local cultures are diluted. The number of jobs will be down because many factories went out abroad. And most of benefits are gained big country like America. So someone call“McDonaldization” instead of “Globalization”

 2) mention of any new, interesting, or unusual items learned
“Glocalization” is very interesting concept. ‘Global’ and ‘Local’ these two words that mean directly opposite are combined. Unfortunately, I don’t know exact meaning. I just know some example like ‘world movie posters’(We talked about it in class)and ‘Starbucks table(Bohyun’s posting). I think“Glocalization”can be interpreted one of the way of resistance to “globalization” or another way of deepening “Globalization”. So this concept was very interesting

 3) identify at least one question, concern, or discussion angle that is either problematic in some respect or could have been elaborated more.
Today, the world layering might be made by “Globalization”. I think several countries have their culture, their economic system, and their politics. But in the global world, these things are judged according to world standard (or the first world standard). Then the country’s level is divided by that standard. I think it can be one of the reasons of world layering.
